Campaign Tools

We research and develop campaign tool tools with Eastern Washington Voters. Together we have developed the Help The Vote approach to turning out first-time voters, partisan voter registration as a precision tool, and cutting edge Get Out The Vote (GOTV) postcards.

Automatic Voter Registration

Here is the Center’s research on automating the voter registration process. Our country has used many different forms of automated voter registration (AVR) for decades, such as opt-in Motor Voter Registration. The most recent type of AVR is opt-out registration at government agencies as eligible citizens apply for drivers’ licenses, government services, and benefits.  In Oregon for example, the Department of Motor Vehicles simply registers people without asking them, but then sends them a letter telling them they are being registered. If they don’t want to be registered, they are asked to return a postcard opting out.
